Basic Checks for HIKVISION DVR
Last Updated 7 years ago

If you cannot login to your HIKVISION DVR system, you can quickly do a basic check.

Do check that the system is powered on and all cables are securely connected and switches turned on.
There should be 3 lights on the front panel of the DVR. The Power light should be on, and the TX/RX light should be on/blinking. Status Light should be flashing now and then. (The light could also be in Red color depending on models/version.)

If the Power light is not on, do check the power supply and cable connection.
If the Tx/Rx light is not on, do check that the network cable is securely connected from your DVR to the internet router.
If the Status light doesn't blink occasionally, either the recording setting is not configured properly or the harddisk is faulty.

There are settings in the Internet Router that's required to allow you to view from the internet.
Otherwise, by default the internet router will block access from the internet.

You can refer here for some of the more common internet router's port forwarding configuration guide.
